HUMAN NATURE’S START RIGHT, STAY RIGHT CONTEST

17 Jan

I just joined Human Nature’s contest: HUMAN NATURE’S START RIGHT, STAY RIGHT CONTEST: Things You Wish You Knew When You Were A Teenager

You can read the entries here.

Here is my entry:

My advice for teens and for my future teenage daughter is just to enjoy the ride. Use your bolts of energy in doing positive things that will yield positive results. Don’t be afraid to explore new things or new talents. It’s better to start early in discovering your real passion that will reveal your true self. Get busy getting to know yourself. It helps if you have learned your strengths and weaknesses so you can work on them and improve them. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your guardians, especially your mom. She is the best person to talk to regarding growing up because she went through the same phase you are going through now. Other responsible and credible people are also willing to help you, your aunts, your homeroom adviser, your guidance counselor. Make your way to the library or the internet if there are some things you are embarrassed to talk about with others. There are a lot of articles that might help you deal with what you are going through. You are never alone.

I want you to remember that beauty is not skin deep. Quoted from the Little Prince, “It is with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” You have to focus on finding out your real self and what makes you happy. Pimples don’t make you less of a person. You also have to learn the basic steps in taking care of yourself and your skin. Prevention is always better than cure, they say. You have to start early with the cleanse-tone-moisturize-protect regimen. It pays off, trust me. Your future self will thank you for doing so. You also need to consider the products you are going to use. They must be designated for your skin type. It is also a plus if the products are not only good for your skin, but good for the environment and for the country too.

Don’t try to fit in with the crowd or try your way to being popular when you get to hurt others in the process. It will never be worth it. There may be trials, petty fights, etc. yet you will be surprised with how understanding your real friends can be. My high school friends are really my closest friends because we literally experienced our firsts together. We know each other so well that we don’t even have to say a word just to comfort the other or to explain we have a problem.

My High School teacher once said, Teenage years is just a phase.” Happily experience all the firsts – first crush, first dance, first day of the first period (called menarche), first love, etc. You can’t escape this whirlwind of emotion, you will experience all this because it is part of life. But what’s good is that it’s just a phase you have to go through. No one said it would be easy. Prayers help, a lot! It may be challenging and heartbreaking, but with God and your family by your side, I know you will survive this so-called ‘teenage years’ with a big smile and a happy heart.

REVIEW: The Body Shop’s Lily Cole Lip and Cheek Dome

15 Jan

After having seen a facebook post from my friend, Madeth Javillo, that the lip and cheek dome are now at 70% off, I stopped by The Body Shop while we were in SM North Edsa. I was a bit upset because the lip and cheek domes are no longer available in the main building. I tried stopping by another TBS branch in The Block, I found that there were only a few left. Of course, hubby treated me again! Thanks!

IMG_0591I got both shades, Crazy for Coral and Pinch me Pink.

Here are some info from The Body Shop:

HOW TO USE:
Dab onto lips or cheeks straight from the dome. Blend using clean fingertips. Layer to build up colour.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT
Star Ingredients: Community Fair Trade beeswax Community Fair Trade marula oil (Our Community Fair Trade marula oil comes from the Eudafano Women’s Co-operative in Namibia. Marula fruits are hand-selected, the nuts are extracted and dried in the sun. The kernels are cold-pressed to release the oil. By setting up their own factory, the 5,000 women members have gained entrepreneurial skills and, they tell us, a newfound self-esteem.)
I love blushes because they easily add color to skin.  Cream blushes are the best to use to give the most natural flush. They don’t come off easily too. I loved using them before but have stayed away from cream blushes for awhile because I can’t seem to master how it is applied. It is so easy to say ‘dab and blend’ but I always get streaks, an obvious sign of a cream blush.
Here I am again, trying out a cream blush (or two!) for my love for makeup. Who can resist the unique, cute packaging and the 70% off to boot? Definitely not me!
Crazy for Coral and Pinch me Pink

Crazy for Coral and Pinch me Pink

This is just so cute. I advise you use a transparent kikay kit so you will be more inspired whenever you get a glimpse of it.

IMG_0619
It comes with a clear cover that you have to carefully handle when opening and closing the product. I am always careful not to get the dome destroyed because of the cover.
IMG_0628
Crazy for Coral is a sheer peach color that gives a subtle color to cheeks. I think this will work well if blended with a bronzer, giving a summer-y look.
IMG_0624
Pinch me Pink is a sheer pink shade that will look good on any skin tone. When blended, it looks so natural. It’s like you’ve just hit the gym. I think it gives off the kind of blush you have when your crush/boyfriend/fiance/husband gave you a very sweet compliment.
IMG_0626
The product weighs 10ml, quite hefty I think. I got these for 268php each.
Here are the swatches:

It has a creamy texture which can be blended easily. It is not very pigmented but you can add more product until you get the color that you want to achieve. It is fine with me because I’d rather layer more than apply a very pigmented product then trying to erase some of it.

Here’s a summary of my likes and dislikes:

(+) The Body Shop products are l-o-v-e!

(+) very unique and has cute packaging

(+) can fit in any purse and can be easily brought anywhere

(+) easy to apply and blend

(+) cream to powder finish

(+) gives a sheer color to the cheeks

(-) not very pigmented, but you can always add more to get the color that you want.

(-) pricey, but it’s at 70% off now! (Grab ’em while you can!)

(-)limited edition

You can still check out The Body Shop’s branches if you want to get your own! 🙂

Krave’s 1st Anniversary

14 Jan

January 12 was a big day for me. There were three events that I was supposed to attend. I dropped attending the Human Nature magalogue turnover so I can finalize the wedding of my uncle. There were two left: my uncle’s wedding and Krave’s event. I was tasked to be the Wedding Planner, Matron of Honor and emcee for my Ninong Jhun’s Wedding day.

Even though I was so tired already and my headache is killing me, my husband, daughter and I went to Palladium Bar, New World Hotel, Makati City to attend and celebrate the first anniversary of Krave Minerale Cosmeceuticals.

I am so honored to receive tickets for this event. It is a  fact that I am one of Krave’s distributors and I also love blogging about their products.

We were late, but it didn’t matter to me, as long as I get to see and feel what it’s like.

IMG_0568

There are new products to be launched this year, so watch out for it. 🙂

Here is the organic skin care line to be launched as well:

The packaging has been greatly improved, and of course, the products have been improved as well.

Two weeks from now, these will be available to the public! Are you as excited as I am?

Before leaving the event, we made sure to stop by at the photobooth. Here are the pics:

I am so blessed and honored to be part of Krave. I am proud to be one of their 100 distributors and I love blogging about their products.

Congratulations again to Ms. Katrina Chua! More power!

How I Fill In My Brows

8 Jan

I found a new addiction — eyebrow powders! I usually ignore these products before but I was totally wrong.

Look at my bare brows.

bare brows1

On a daily basis, I only cleanse tone moisturize and protect. But ever since I’ve discovered how a filled in brows can affect your face, my regimen became cleanse-tone-moisturize-protect-shape (my brows)! Yes I fill in my brows even when I’m at home.

There are many kinds of eyebrow product – I have tried only two, pencil and powder. I like using the eyebrow powder more than the pencil. I just bought an eyebrow pencil to test how it works. It’s fine I think, but I am not really into the idea of sharpening it. I think there’s more product wasted than used.

brow brush1

Before putting on any eyebrow product, make sure that your eyebrows are perfectly groomed. I will try to do a blog post on that soon!

You also have to choose the shade that will work out for you, this will depend on the color of your hair. The darker the hair you have, the lighter eyebrow powder you should use. If you have a lighter colored hair, go for a darker shade or two for the eyebrow powder. For example, go for ash gray or taupe if you have black hair, or dark brown if your hair is on the brown side.

Using an angled eyebrow brush, fill in brows in light feathery strokes. Continue until you fill in all the sparse areas and bald spots. Eyebrow powders can also be applied with a wet eyebrow brush applicator to make the effect more intense. Haven’t really tried using a wet brush though.

brow brush

To soften the look, use a spoolie or reuse an old mascara brush (make sure to wash it first!) to blend the filled-in color applied. You can brush your brows smoothly or use the same technique, light feathery strokes.

Done!

I love how perfectly shaped and filled in brows frame the face, open up the eyes, complement any eye makeup, and keeps the whole look balanced and polished.

I hope you find this post helpful!
