Moving Out and Moving On

10 Apr

Leaving the house I lived in for 13 years was such a heartbreak for me. We moved there April 1, 2001 – I was still a freshman in high school. Though it tugs my heart to leave such a place, I have nothing else to do. We were just renting the apartment and the owner of that place was selling the whole lot (and quite probably going to build a townhouse) so all us tenants were forced to vacate the area.

For the past 4 months, every night I had became sleepless. Waves of worries washed me… Where will we move? Is the place we’re going to move in as safe, accessible and within budget? Can I still have the life I used to have in the new place we’re moving? What will happen to me, to our family? Glad I have my hubby to talk to and somehow he keeps everything pacified. We are exact opposites, really. Being the worrier that I am, stressing over every detail, hubby on the other hand is the laid back, what-will-happen-will-happen kind of person. He just tells me to continue doing what I do best – and that is to pray. It helped that I am part of CFC and LECCOM which somehow helped me in prayer.

For days, I asked every one in my contacts and those who live nearby if they know any house we can inquire. We walked around our area, searched for available houses, and BAM! A block away (exactly three houses) from my parents’ house was for lease. I prayed that God let us move in that place if that new house is really meant for us. Yes, there were troubles but nothing hubby and I can’t surpass.

We moved in to our new place last March 30, 2014 (Sunday). Hubby and I gave our house a soft blessing wherein I used Holy Water, a drop of oil of Miraculous Infant Jesus de Providencia. We prayed over our house to be a safe home filled with happiness, love and good memories.

Only yesterday we had our house blessed by Fr. Chito Bartolo, OFM Capuchin. He is the parish priest of National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes (NSOLL). He was very accomodating and witty!

Bittersweet and all, this new chapter in my life is definitely a milestone for our family. This gave me the realization that even if life is filled with changes and situations that will keep us moving forward, there is only one thing that will remain constantGod’s love for us. With God’s love always present with us, we just need to keep living a life filled with goodness and love.

This Past Year’s Gift [First Year Anniversary]

8 May

Woah. It has been a year already and I haven’t even reached my goal to have 100 posts for my blog’s anniversary. Sorry if I am not having any anniversary giveaway… yet.

I am writing now because I am just grateful. Grateful for the things I experienced, products I used, events I attended, people I met, food I tasted, etc. I am also very thankful for the support of my husband for sponsoring most of the products here –teehee!

What made me start http://www.writingismyhappyplace.wordpress.com?

I remember days when I would just stare blankly at the ceiling or anywhere for that matter because I am breastfeeding my baby. I read magazines and books while she breastfeeds and when my body or arms start to strain I have to put my reading material down. February 2011 changed my life. It was then I discovered blog posts. I was just researching products I wanted to try and I ended up with local blogs like: my lucid intervals, rare vanity, the beauty junkee, shen’s addiction, project vanity, bless my bag,  lush angelmakeupbysaytiocoartillero and an international blog frmheadtotoe.

I was hooked on reading their blog posts. I read more than 10posts per blogger a day. So I thought, hey, why not start a blog of my own? I tried blogspot but I was so confused with it so I shifted to wordpress.com. I was thinking of a blog name and ended up with writingismyhappyplace because, well, writing is my happy place.

Why blog?

Blogging keeps me from losing my sanity. This is my only outlet since I don’t have anyone to talk to most of the time. It was born out of my love for writing and love for girly things out there.

Blogging is also my ‘kikay stuff scrapbook‘. I take pictures of products and they serve as mementos of the things I have used and have loved. I can just go online and read about them again whenever I want to.

Blogging is a privilege for me. It is a medium for me to share the things I encountered. I am writing posts based on how I see things or how I experienced it. I don’t lie just to please some company or anything. I write with all honesty all the time.

Blogging also gives me the opportunity to gain new experiences, meet new people, and try out more products and review them.

Blogging also serves as my journal where I write my thoughts and adventures in motherhood and in life.

Blogging can also help others find reviews on the products they want to try but want to research on it first.

Blogging lets me meet great people — bloggers, entrepreneurs behind successful companies, etc.

When do I blog?

I try to blog daily but with a 2-year-old daughter with me 24/7, I just cannot. I have stuff to do, chores to finish, food to cook… And above all, it is my daughter who is really on top of my priority. There are times when I can have 2 blog posts a day and zero posts the rest of the week. I have blog posts on my drafts folder that I just cannot finish. I want my posts to be catchy and with  aesthetics. I try my best to write all information needed by anyone so I really take time writing. I try to update my blog per week, though.

What’s in store for writingismyhappyplace for the coming years?

I plan to continue this blog for years to come. I want to attend more events and try out different products from various companies and product labels. Though I am far from the bloggers I mentioned above, I will continue aspiring to achieve what they have achieved. The bloggers I mentioned are really my inspirations in this blog. They are the successful ones who have been passionate about their craft for 4 years or more…

I want to write and write. I will find time in updating this blog more often.

PS. Special thanks to Snoe Beauty Inc. and Krave Minerale Cosmeceuticals because even if I am a newbie in blogging, they still invited me to attend their Blogger’s events. I am very honored and thankful.

Thank you for reading this and thank you for your support too!

Cheers to more years for this blog!

Yellow Cab Promo

5 Dec

While surfing the net, I saw this ad from Yellow Cab.

FREE-ICECREAM-rev_(2)

As soon as I saw this I showed it to my hubby and persuaded him to ordering pizza and pasta for lunch. The coupon must be printed, presented and surrendered upon purchase. In our case, we gave it to the delivery man.

We were sort of celebrating since we are expecting a very important delivery that same day. So to make this normal day otherwise, we ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs and 2 10-inch pizzas: NY Classic and New York’s Finest.

I know this is far too plenty for two people (and a baby!)to consume, but we wanted to avail of the free chocolate ice cream. Our total should hit a minimum of 1000php.

In less than 45minutes, we received our orders! Yippee!

Even the little girl was excited! She loves pasta and pizza as much as we do.

New York’s Finest and NY Classic

To preserve the fresh from the oven look, taste, and feel of these, we helped ourselves and served it.

I love the spaghetti and meatballs for the big (huge!) meatballs that come with it. Chunky tomato sauce filled it too. I love tomatoes and it’s a plus that they are good for the heart. NY Classic is a family favorite. We order this every time we eat at Yellow Cab. Come to think of it, its just plain pepperoni…but when you have a bite of it, you’ll definitely remember its taste. Yummy, cheesy, tomatoey, a bit spicy… yummm! It’s unlike any other pepperoni pizza! New York’s Finest is a great mixture of toppings: Italian sausage, ham, pepperoni, bacon, ground beef, black olives, mushrooms, onions, red & green bell peppers. I love this too because its filled with uber yummy toppings to boot!

And of course, the little big bonus:

303 chocolate ice cream

303 chocolate ice cream

The ice cream sells for 120php/tub. This is the first time we’ve tried this and definitely not the last one. It is a semi-sweet chocolate and tastes like a gelato.

The promo  is valid until December 31, 2012. You still have time to order and get the free ice cream.

We have printed two more copies of the coupon so if there’s another chance that we will dine in Yellow Cab, we are ready to grab this little freebie!
