KRAVE Eyebrow Definer Kit in Pecan Deluxe | Obsessesed with this Very First Organic Eyebrow Powder

2 Dec

I have been obsessed with well groomed, natural looking eyebrows. So when Krave Minerale Cosmeceuticals released their organic eyebrow powder, I got it immediately. I am a Krave distributor and ordered this last March 2013. This is my very first eyebrow powder! I have reviewed Shawill and IN2IT too! I know this review is kind of late already but I still have it and still using it.

KRAVE Eyebrow Definer Kit in Pecan Deluxe

This eyebrow definer kit comes with a black box with a little fuschia design. The box and the eyebrow definer kit look so sleek and sophisticated. The eyebrow kit has a thin, sturdy plastic container with brush and mirror included. The brush is two-way: one for lining and the other for blending. It has an eyebrow wax and powder, which is unbelievably organic!

Too Cool for School BB Foundation | Very Handy for Girls on the Go

23 Aug

Too Cool for School is a new Korean brand which recently launched here in the Philippines. Thankfully, BDJ Box had included it in the last July BDJ Box.

I fancy the cute packaging — it’s almost like that of Etude House’s. I think it has a long brand name but hey, with its acronym, TCFS — I think it is fine.

Product Description

The travel-sized version is perfect for girls always on the go, as this BB Cream quickly covers all skin imperfections for a natural, flawless skin! It has SPF 37 PA++, so you’re always protected wherever you go.

Too Cool for School BB Foundation

I haven’t been to any of the two stores they recently opened (SM Mall of Asia and SM North Edsa) so I don’t have any idea if this BB Foundation has other shades or other variants. The one I got is the sample size, 219php, which I think will last me months because I don’t need to put a plenty amount to cover the whole face. The packaging is very convenient and can fit the smallest kikay kit.

Krave Mineral Concealer | My First Concealer

12 Aug

This was my very first concealer! “Was” because as of this writing, I do not have this anymore. I gave this away since I don’t use it often and because I am a newbie in concealer, I find it a bit hard to use. I took notes about my experience with this before I gave this away so no worries regarding the deets below.

At first glance, you may think that this does not work at all. Don’t be deceived. The packaging may look flimsy and cheap but did you know that this is the first organic concealer in the market? Thanks to Krave Minerale Cosmeceuticals for coming up with this.

Krave Mineral Concealer

This concealer looks a lot like a lip balm since its container is exactly like one. You need to rotate the bottom part to use the concealer. The label looks simple but it is filled with the needed info one is looking for.

REVIEW: Krave’s Oil Eliminator HD with super fruit

31 May

Remember the Krave event last January 12? This was one of the items I got for free, the other one was Visibly Rosy Mineral Veil.

This is actually an improved version of their Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator. Improved in packaging, weight, price, benefits!

For 520php, you get 6g of product. Better than the 285php for 3g of product, right? The product now comes in a box, too. The box is where all the information you need are in.

I tried this once way back February without using the sponge that came with it. I used my Ecotools kabuki brush in applying it and it did mattify my face but only for about 2 hours. So I thought to myself, “I like the Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator from the Poreless series better.”

This went on a hiatus for awhile since I still have some Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator left. Just recently, when I accidentally dropped my Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator and emptied the whole product compact (BOO! My bad!), I told myself why not make use of the improved version, the Oil Elimator HD, which has better packaging.

Product Empties: MAY 2013

30 May

This is my first “product empties” post ever…because I hardly ever finish a product. I don’t get to empty them because, well, I like to keep them when they are 1/4 empty. I hardly ever throw products [even though they are expired!] because no matter how silly it may seem or how crazy I am, I’d like to keep them.

There’s going to be only one photo for this, though.

1.   Clindamycin Phosphate S.O.S.(Save Our Skin)

I am already using my third bottle as of the moment. For almost 100php, this product works! I don’t have any blackheads around my nose anymore and it prevents big breakouts. For a detailed review, check here.

2. Human Nature Strengthening Shampoo

I used this months ago but just emptied it recently. It is an all-natural shampoo without SLS.  This does not lather like other shampoos but it cleans just the same. I also loved the fresh aloe vera scent it leaves my hair. Most of the time, it makes my hair look damp straight and at times it makes my hair stiff and dry. That is why I use it only twice a week and on days when my hair feels like it is so much chemically-laden.

3. Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator

I did not really finish this up. I dropped it — accidentally. I was in shock when it happened because it was still almost new. The tub is still filled. It works well in preventing oiliness and smoothing out the face. Instead of crying over spilled milk, I moved on already and started again using the new Oil Eliminator HD from Krave.

4. J&J Milk Lotion

This product is actually used up by my little girl. I included it here because I undeniably share this with her. She loves applying lotion on her skin and on my skin as well!

5. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

I swear by this product and have used this ever since my little girl was an infant. I have two of this [one at my parent’s house, one at home]. The one we have at home is the empty one. I also have a little bottle of this in her baby bag. It is gentle, dermatologist tested, and may be used even without water. I also get to borrow this when we are out and I wanted to wash my face. What’s great is that you only have to use a little amount and a 250ml can last you a year or two.

This Past Year’s Gift [First Year Anniversary]

8 May

Woah. It has been a year already and I haven’t even reached my goal to have 100 posts for my blog’s anniversary. Sorry if I am not having any anniversary giveaway… yet.

I am writing now because I am just grateful. Grateful for the things I experienced, products I used, events I attended, people I met, food I tasted, etc. I am also very thankful for the support of my husband for sponsoring most of the products here –teehee!

What made me start http://www.writingismyhappyplace.wordpress.com?

I remember days when I would just stare blankly at the ceiling or anywhere for that matter because I am breastfeeding my baby. I read magazines and books while she breastfeeds and when my body or arms start to strain I have to put my reading material down. February 2011 changed my life. It was then I discovered blog posts. I was just researching products I wanted to try and I ended up with local blogs like: my lucid intervals, rare vanity, the beauty junkee, shen’s addiction, project vanity, bless my bag,  lush angelmakeupbysaytiocoartillero and an international blog frmheadtotoe.

I was hooked on reading their blog posts. I read more than 10posts per blogger a day. So I thought, hey, why not start a blog of my own? I tried blogspot but I was so confused with it so I shifted to wordpress.com. I was thinking of a blog name and ended up with writingismyhappyplace because, well, writing is my happy place.

Why blog?

Blogging keeps me from losing my sanity. This is my only outlet since I don’t have anyone to talk to most of the time. It was born out of my love for writing and love for girly things out there.

Blogging is also my ‘kikay stuff scrapbook‘. I take pictures of products and they serve as mementos of the things I have used and have loved. I can just go online and read about them again whenever I want to.

Blogging is a privilege for me. It is a medium for me to share the things I encountered. I am writing posts based on how I see things or how I experienced it. I don’t lie just to please some company or anything. I write with all honesty all the time.

Blogging also gives me the opportunity to gain new experiences, meet new people, and try out more products and review them.

Blogging also serves as my journal where I write my thoughts and adventures in motherhood and in life.

Blogging can also help others find reviews on the products they want to try but want to research on it first.

Blogging lets me meet great people — bloggers, entrepreneurs behind successful companies, etc.

When do I blog?

I try to blog daily but with a 2-year-old daughter with me 24/7, I just cannot. I have stuff to do, chores to finish, food to cook… And above all, it is my daughter who is really on top of my priority. There are times when I can have 2 blog posts a day and zero posts the rest of the week. I have blog posts on my drafts folder that I just cannot finish. I want my posts to be catchy and with  aesthetics. I try my best to write all information needed by anyone so I really take time writing. I try to update my blog per week, though.

What’s in store for writingismyhappyplace for the coming years?

I plan to continue this blog for years to come. I want to attend more events and try out different products from various companies and product labels. Though I am far from the bloggers I mentioned above, I will continue aspiring to achieve what they have achieved. The bloggers I mentioned are really my inspirations in this blog. They are the successful ones who have been passionate about their craft for 4 years or more…

I want to write and write. I will find time in updating this blog more often.

PS. Special thanks to Snoe Beauty Inc. and Krave Minerale Cosmeceuticals because even if I am a newbie in blogging, they still invited me to attend their Blogger’s events. I am very honored and thankful.

Thank you for reading this and thank you for your support too!

Please don’t forget to like my Facebook page, shengshappyplace.

Cheers to more years for this blog!

REVIEW: KRAVE’s Luxurious Perfection in French Latte

24 Apr

I have been loving Krave’s Complexion Perfection in Hazelnut yet I think it is a bit dark on my skin so I got myself another shade from the second type of their loose powder foundation. Luxurious Perfection loose mineral foundation has more beneficial ingredients than Complexion Perfection.

I chose the shade French Latte since it is for individuals who have fair skin with yellow undertone.

20130423-173027.jpg Product Description:

LUXURIOUS PERFECTION loose mineral foundation with Levomenol, Allantoin, Golden Jojoba, provitamin B5

NON- COMEDOGENIC (won’t clog pores)
NON-ACNEGENIC (won’t cause acne break outs)

Experience our chemical-free, buildable coverage Luxurious Perfection which provides a natural SPF, poreless dewy finish and are enhanced with skin-soothing and anti-bacterial properties such as Allantoin (skin regeneration), Alpha Bisabolol (anti-bacterial/inflammatory), ProVitamin B5 (potent skin moisturizer) & Golden Jojoba oil (aids in the reduction of acne & regulates sebum production)
giving your skin an amazing radiant and healthy glow while providing you a flawless, air-brushed appearance. Hide the look of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, hyper pigmentation and other minor facial imperfections with just a few brush strokes without ever feeling dry, heavy or looking pasty and chalky.

1. ALLANTOIN which comes form the comfrey root used for its healing, moisturizing, soothing and anti-irritating properties. It is moisturizing and keratolytic, meaning that it causes keratin in the skin to soften.

2. LEVOMENOL is obtained from the Chamomile plant that contains high concentration of Panthenol that effectively stimulates the healing of the skin and is a superb ingredient use to soothe irritated skin.

3. ProVitamin B5 acts a shield to protect the skin from allergens, skin irritants that can cause acne, rosacea & contact dermatitis, great moisturizer too.

4. GOLDEN JOJOBA decrease your skin production of oil, fights the regulation of too much sebum of the skin & controls the formulation of acne.

Shake the jar and dab your brush in a swirling motion, tap it to remove excess powder & apply to your face in circular motion until desired coverage is achieved.

*Best to use with
OIL ELIMINATOR & SKIN HYDRATOR to achieve an oil free long lasting make up or MIST SPRITZ make up setting spray/ refreshing facial mist

3 grams net weight P300
6 grams net weight P550

One of the things I love about Krave is that they keep their products sealed. This guarantees us that the product is kept clean, fresh and good as new.

???????????????????????????????I thought the label was part of the glass jar cover…until I opened it!

???????????????????????????????I am not really a fan of the sponge/powder puff that comes with their product because I prefer to use brushes. It helps keep the product from coming out of the sifter, though. I also love the fuchsia glass jar but I can’t help but notice that this same jar is available in leading department stores.l

So how does this differ from the Complexion Perfection? The shades and the beneficial ingredients give it the term “Luxurious Perfection”.

???????????????????????????????I use this now daily since the weather is very humid and I cannot stand it. I don’t use foundations and bb creams nowadays because I feel they are heavy on the skin. Despite them being ‘light’, I still feel moisturizer and sunscreen is enough.

I have a love-hate relationship with this mineral powder foundation. I love that it gives medium coverage and can stand the summer’s heat. Thought there are times I feel it is melting and is too obvious on my face, especially when the heat is too much to bear. It gives a buildable coverage (light to medium) that lasts for hours. It gives the same matte and velvety finish I get from Complexion Perfection! It is also great as a setting powder for bb creams and foundations but I prefer using this alone. What I don’t like is that is I use it on top of any liquid or cream makeup product, I end up with an obvious white cast. I think the shade is a little lighter than my skin tone. I am actually in the middle of Hazelnut and French Latte.

Since I don’t use any liquid or cream makeup bases this summer season, I rely on this. As I said, for me and my skin, it works better when worn alone.

sealed sifter to prevent messy powder

What I wish:

Here’s a picture after I took a shower and done with the cleanse tone moisturize protect steps. I just used L’oreal BB cream after fruittee poreless toner and added Visibly Rosy Mineral Veil.
