Just a Life Update

19 Aug

I have been on a hiatus for more than a month because a lot of things have been happening to my life. There were changes that I needed to adapt to, because that is how life is. Life will keep throwing things at you, to help you grow and to direct you where you should be heading. It’s more like I keep maturing every single time because I always learn something new with life. I prayed a lot for a sign for me to take up another chapter (I will be studying again — soon I hope) in my life. I took this entrance exam for a university and I am praying I can finish that again.

Anyway, one of those that was added to my to-do list is working out. I started going to the gym with my husband and brothers last July 19. On top of house chores, familial responsibilities and work, an added extracurricular activity was added. I had to pitch this in my schedule. I also had to manage my days of service in masses so as to fix my schedule. Plus, I am also writing for our parish and if you want to read about reflections and faith, head on over to www.nsollqc.com. The biggest milestone that affected me is that my daughter started her classes already! She is in big school now and everything else is fresh for all of us. Even my husband is fixing his schedule for this!

I will try my best to write about all these stuff when I finally get the hang of my mixed up schedule. I am still trying to set things straight or when I will be comfortable with my time. At this moment actually, I am making the exams for our first quarterly examination for next week. I felt that I just needed to let this out before I finish those papers.

That’s about it… Hope you’re all enjoying your life!

Cheers!

Unboxing the June BDJ Box BIODERMA Exclusive

4 Jul

Some might be a little disappointed with this month’s BDJ box because only one product is full size and the rest are sample sizes. But hey, Bioderma is one expensive skincare brand. I, for one, wished that somehow they included even one full size of Bioderma product, particularly the Micellar Water (even the 100 ml) so the subscribers will feel their money is more sulit.

Anyway, I am still a bit excited to try the other products from Bioderma since I am a big fan of their micellar water.

Mother’s Day Special: Mommy Tag

5 May

I read this from Ms. Char of Yellow Yum so I thought of answering it too…

1. Are you a SAHM or working mom?

I am kind of in between since I opt to have a part time job so I can still be a hands on mom while I handle the household.

2. Would you have it any other way?

Sometimes I just get burnt up with the stuff I need to do, but I would not have it any other way. My daughter has given us a sense of direction and focus, we can say that we have matured when she arrived.

3. Do you co-sleep?

Yes. I am the eldest child and my younger brothers are always in the middle when we were kids. I always wanted to stay in the middle before, and now that I am a mom (and both my daughter and hubby wants to sleep with me), I stay in between them as we co-sleep.

4. One musthave gear for a baby?

I think I have never been dependent on any kind of gear (stroller etc). When she was less than a year old, my complete and heavy diaper bag would have to be my gear. It’s filled with emergency stuff (extra towel, extra clothes, extra diapers, bottles, water, milk powder, diaper changing mat, and her baby kit) which makes it heavy to tote around.

5. How many kids do you plan on having?

Maybe 2 or 3 kids will do. We want to provide them a good education and we want them to experience not having to struggle for needs.

6. Date night? How many nights (or days) per month?

None! We never have a couple date anymore. We always bring Iya with us. I hope we can do it even once or twice a month.

7. Your child’s favorite show?

Overall, her favorite is Elmo’s World. Her favorite shows differ per age. When she was younger, it was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. At two, Elmo’s World. When she was three, Hi-5 and Sofia the First. These are the shows that she love!!!

8. Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and you never end up using?

A bikini.

9. Your child’s fave food?

Mommy’s milk! Though just recently, she had to stop breastfeeding since my milk has stopped producing! For real food, she loves Chicken Tinola. Serve it every single day, and she would still love it!

10. How many cars does your family have?

We are only three in the family so we only have one car.

11. Weight gain before pregnancy, during and after, and now?

I used to be so skinny in college, around 100 lbs. Before pregnancy I was 112 lbs, I lost weight on the first trimester due to paglilihi causing nausea and vomiting. I gained weight around 2nd to 3rd trimester. After pregnancy I lost weight because I was exclusively breastfeeding Iya. Now that I am on pills, I gained weight again.

12. Dream vacation with your kiddos?

Disneyland or Universal Studios.

13. Dream vacation without the kiddos?

Anywhere as long as I am with my hubby… But we really love to go to Paris or Italy! In the country, we would love to see Batanes.

14. How has your life changed since your baby has been born?

Iya came unexpectedly so our lives changed at a click of a button. Hubby needed to work harder so he can provide for us. I moved out of my parents’ house after the wedding and we stayed for a year with my sister-in-law (who is very hard to get along with because of her being buraot). We moved to another house with my uncles for about 6 months then we just rented for us. We’ve been yaya-less and maid-less so there’s only the 3 of us at home.

15. Finish the sentence: “It makes my heart melt to see…”

It makes my heart melt to see my daughter hug me and tell me “I love you, Mommy!” anywhere we are. Out of all the accomplishments she has, it makes my heart melt to see her enthusiasm in learning, her respect for anyone she meets, her obedience to Papa and Mommy, and her genuine love that radiates.

16. Where do you shop for your kids?

Anywhere actually. I love Mothercare and Gingersnaps though.

17. Fave mommy make-up and skin care products?

I have to have multi-tasking products so to cut time in morning preparations. At the moment, I use Bioderma Micellar water as makeup remover, acne soap and Clindamycin toner from my derma, VMV Hypoallergenics Id Gel and Avon Anew Genics moisturizer. I love sunscreens and I use it every single day even if I am just at home. For makeup, I love MAC Brow Gelcreme in Dirty Blonde and MAC Browgel in Beguile for my brows, L’oreal concealer, Happy Skin ZZ Cream as my base, Shu Uemura lash curer, Benefit They’re Real Mascara, Benetint, Bahama Mama for bronzer, and Bobbi Brown creamy matte lipstick.

18. Huggies diaper jeans: yay or nay?

My daughter does not wear diapers anymore 4 months before her 4th birthday. 🙂

Here is a recent photo of me and my daughter.

Happy Skin’s Zit Zapper Cream | My answered prayer in a tube

31 Mar

Happy Skin has this instagram contest with hashtags #HappySkinHaul and #HappySkinGiveaway to which I was not able to join because I am on a makeup ban for three months. I was struggling to move my makeup ban to start for the month of April but then again, I assured myself that there will be more contests to join in next time. Actually, I am a feeling a little bitter about it.  I saw instagram photos of huge collections of Happy Skin products and I didn’t think I’ll get the chance even if I did a haul. So there, I just thought of posting a review on the first ever product I purchased from Happy Skin — The Zit Zapper Cream!

Bidding 2014 Goodbye…

30 Dec

I know I have been not posting for a long time because A) I had a lot of service in our parish B) work needs to be prioritized because of the preparation for exams and programs and C) the laptop I had been using for 2 years crashed and EVERYTHING saved there are deleted..! Most files are important, especially my thesis. 😦

I still can’t get over the fact that all the photos I took are gone. I usually take A LOT of pictures of ALL the products I have and just edit and watermark it when I am ready to write a review for it. BUT now, I have to start anew… I actually don’t know how to start, where to begin and what to do. I am afraid to insert my memory card in the laptop and have the pictures deleted because of its reformatted state. I wanted to join the BDJ box challenges, but I was so preoccupied and can’t even start.

Oh well, this incident reminded me that everything else can change in just a snap, and only God and His words will remain. I realized that all things will surpass and if ever I die in the future, I can’t bring those files with me. I also realized that I should have uploaded it in my email or dropbox so I will have a backup file. I learned the hard way.

Anyway, enough of my bitterness.

I actually have a lot to be thankful for this 2014. This was a GREAT year for me and my family. A lot of milestones happened this year… let me mention them…

  • I finished my thesis and graduated from my Masters degree
  • I was able to be part of LECCOM Ministry of NSOLL again
  • We were able to move to a new house, still renting but hey, we did not bring my parents’ old stuff
  • I was able to get a job (after 3 years of being a fulltime MOM)
  • Our daughter is top 1 for the 1st and 2nd quarters ( I hope she maintains it)
  • Our daughter had her first field trip!
  • Hubby got promoted
  • Hubby was able to pass an exam and take another one (results will be out January 16, 2015)
  • I was surprised by hubby with a new car ( our first!)
  • I was not admitted for any serious illness though I had pittyriasis rosea and lumbar pain/muscle spasms early first quarter of the year
  • I learned to bake!
  • I was entrusted to transcribe and write for the website of NSOLL.
  • My dad was given an early retirement and that their house was already fully paid.

Quite a list, right? So before I bid 2014 goodbye, I reminisced the good and bad experiences and all the lessons that go with them. I just can’t help but feel thankful of all HIS blessings for me and my loved ones. For every little thing that has happened, I thank HIM, I praise HIM and I love HIM even more. I will serve Him with all my heart, all my mind and all my soul.

I pray that the worst of 2015 will be BETTER than the best of 2014.

Happy New Year!
