REVIEW: Clindamycin Phosphate S.O.S.(Save Our Skin)

14 Feb

I was really shocked to see that my S.O.S. roll on is empty. For the record, I think this is the first product that I have finished for less than a month’s time.

How did I come across this product? I was in Mercury Drug last January 20 buying prescription meds for my little girl who was sick. Fortunately, the lady beside me was buying quite a number of medicines that I overheard her asking, “Clindamycin nga. Iyung SOS.” The pharmacist gave one to her. I curiously looked over and read that S.O.S. stands for “Save Our Skin”. I asked, “Effective po ba ‘yan?” She answered, “Okay naman siya. 98php lang ito. Try mo.”

I remembered I had a Topical Clindamycin before when I was seeing my dermatologist. I thought this would almost be the same. So I did get this. Here’s how it looks like:

???????????????????????????????

I immediately took this photo because I wanted to try it out as soon as we got home. I read the information at the back first.

Product Description:

Formulation:
10grams of Clindamycin Phosphate

Indication:
Clindamycin 1% Topical Solution with Vitamin E is a topical antibiotic which contains an antioxidant used in the treatment of acne vulgaris. The combination of antibiotic and Vitamin E’s natural skin repairing substance is an innovation that can prevent, heal pimples/acne as well as acne skin lesions and scarring.

How to use Save Our Skin:
1. Wash the affected area gently with soap and water. You may use warm, moist compress to open the clogged pores.

2. Shake the SOS roll-on and apply topically by gently rolling SOS on the affected area. When applying around the face, avoid the eye area.

3. Use SOS once or twice a day, depending on the severity. To fully enjoy the benefits of SOS, it is recommended to use up to 12 weeks for total healing.
???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

Since my skin is quite reacting too much to stress (and to pillowcases laundered by a laundry shop), I thought I needed to use an antibiotic to heal those pesky pimples. Pimples appear on the side of my face where I slept in. Ugh!

I use this twice a day after I tone my face. I follow the instructions on how to use it, shake the bottle and apply directly. It dries out the acne/pimple without the sting and burn we get from harsh topical acne solutions. Give it a day or two and the pesky zit lessens it size and redness. Unfortunately, I experience a purging stage with this. I used this with a Tretinoin cream, which I’ll be reviewing next. A purging stage is a phase where trapped oil, bacteria and dead skin cells rise to the surface of the skin and breakouts occur. I wasn’t discouraged and I just continued using it.

I actually bought myself a new one already. I think I’ll be loyal to this one and continue buying this until zits stop showing. I am really very happy that I discovered this product. I just wish it wasn’t a roll-on bottle because I think it’s not as hygienic as using a pump bottle or a squeeze tube. Nevertheless, with the price and the effects, it is pretty good to me!

Hi! I’m currently using this for more than a week now and I think I’m at a purging stage, too. 😦 My breakouts are getting worse but I’m trying to calm myself down thinking that this will all go away in another week or so. How was your experience? Did it take a long time until all the zits disappear? Hope you can enlighten me. 🙂

Can I use toner bago po gumamit ng SOS? Ung toner ko is iskin. Nttkot po tlga ko bka panget pala reaction or what. Sana masagot thank you! 🙂

    • shengmarasigan February 25, 2014 at 1:51 am #

I use toner before I use SOS. But I did that with a patch test first. For a week I’ve been using toner on a particular part of my face (jaw line) and then followup with SOS. Since I did not get any reaction from both, I used them na together. Better do a patch test first especially if you have sensitive skin. And of course, it’s always best to consult a derma prior to usage of any product. Hope it helped. Thanks for dropping by.

    effective ba tlga yan?

    • shengmarasigan April 10, 2014 at 5:14 am #

For me it was effective. Try a patch test first if you want to use it to check if it causes allergic reactions.

    • shengmarasigan April 10, 2014 at 5:13 am #

Oh I am sorry to hear your experience. We have different skin types that react differently too on various products. My skin did not experience any burn, though. I advise you stop using it for now and let your skin rest. Better consult a professional dermatologist too to check.

  17. rg ilumin May 11, 2014 at 3:36 am #

    Very effective 🙂

  18. Alyyy July 10, 2014 at 8:28 am #

I’ve been using this for 8 days and contented naman ako sa result nya. Before I started using this, I was having a new acne forming na masakit. Then nilagyan ko nitong SOS. Di na siya sumakit and di masyadong namula and kahit magaling na, di masyadong nagiwan ng dark spot 🙂 effective din po sya sakin.

Hi! I started using this product last 2013, i think 5 consecutive months, SOS serves as my moisturizer. Well, this is a really good product. kasi i’ve tried so many products to get rid of my pimples/acne. pero eto lang yung nagbigay ng solusyon. one roll on = 1 month. If matindi ung acne, twice a day. Pag hinde, once a day lang. Yung result, makikita mo after 4-8 weeks. Maganda yung result, di na ko tinutubuan ng pimples. (Sa leeg na lang ksi di ko nalalagyan) But, nung nagstop ako nito lang 2014. ayan na dumami na ulit sila. Meaning, i’ve wasted my PhP490.00 (5 rolls ons of SOS) kasi bumalik na ang pimples ko dhil nagstop ako maguse.

reason na nagstop ako, sa mercury drug store at watsons lang siya available, which is msyado akong malayo. kaya di na ko nakapagpurchase 😦 . This is very effective. Try niyo lang, buy na kayo 2 roll ons good for 2 months na siya.

Thanks for sharing your exerience dear 🙂 I also stopped using it.

    • shengmarasigan February 11, 2015 at 2:12 pm #

Yes po pwede po sa guys… Better check your derma first before using any new product…

  24. Kinsha Cachin November 25, 2014 at 3:32 pm #

Hi! I just wanted to ask if how many days did you experience purging or thw breakout. Ako kasi, parang may maliliit na rash-like na nag appear. Medyo makati sa mukha. I dont know if continue ko pa ung paggamit o stop ko na. Thaanks!

    • shengmarasigan February 11, 2015 at 2:12 pm #

      I think I had a month or two of purging… I can’t remember na… I stopped using this already…

  25. kx December 12, 2014 at 5:58 pm #

Hi po. Gano katagal nyo na po sya ginagamit? Hindi ba po nagkakaroon ng bacteria resistance?

    • shengmarasigan February 11, 2015 at 2:11 pm #

I used this for a year and I finished 4 tubes of this. I stopped gradually because my acne somehow stopped popping.

  26. krystleacassar January 21, 2015 at 11:45 am #

I bought this in the Phils also! Do you know if it comes in a bigger tube or applicator? I finish one quite easily, in a short amount of time… I have asked my friends countless times, to buy some and bring it home, as they don’t sell it here in Australia. Plus, it is so incredibly cheap over there!! Never would you see that price over here haha… I have been continuing to use it, as it seems to work well as a spot treatment for my pimple bumps. It’s actually even better than the 10% benzoyl peroxide gel that I have… However, it doesn’t work on my cystic acne or the pussy acne though….. Those ones are so stubborn. Had to see the Doc for prescription meds for that. She prescribed me Duac (a mix of Clindamycin and the Benzoyl) which is a topical medicine with great reviews, however it is sadly out of stock all over Sydney…. Couldn’t believe it, some manufacturing problem. So therefore I am trying Epiduo gel with my antibiotics. Hope this works to clear my skin problems. I am 27 and so over these crazy hormonal acne dilemmas lol

    • shengmarasigan February 11, 2015 at 2:09 pm #

I stopped using this for months already. I am seeing a dermatologist and an OB gyne now. They work together for my hormonal cystic acne. I am currently breaking out since I am on the first pack of Diane 35. Hoping Diane will solve my breakouts too.

Naglessen naman yung pimples ko pero kahit more than a week ko na siyang ginagamit, ang lalaki pa rin ng pimples. 😦 I’ll be patient wooh sana mawala talaga 😦 I’ve been trying different products na kasi, until now wala akong mahanap na magpapawala ng pimples ko. Nirecommend lang ito ng friend ko. I’ll be patiently waiting na sana mawala talaga at hindi pa madagdagan pimples ko 😦
