Belo Essentials AcnePro Pimple Gel | Third Step to Clear Skin System

30 May

I don’t buy over-the-counter anti-acne gel products because, from my experience, it does otherwise on my skin. I have tried a few and each time I ended up with bigger zits that have pus way deep inside my dermis! I will not name them anymore out of respect, but I tell you, my skin went cray cray with every use of these products. Glad that Sample Room released samples of Belo AcnePro Pimple Gel first so I could try it out first before actually purchasing one. I am willing to try out yet another anti-acne gel to see if it will make me break out or not.

Product Empties: MAY 2013

30 May

This is my first “product empties” post ever…because I hardly ever finish a product. I don’t get to empty them because, well, I like to keep them when they are 1/4 empty. I hardly ever throw products [even though they are expired!] because no matter how silly it may seem or how crazy I am, I’d like to keep them.

There’s going to be only one photo for this, though.

1.   Clindamycin Phosphate S.O.S.(Save Our Skin)

I am already using my third bottle as of the moment. For almost 100php, this product works! I don’t have any blackheads around my nose anymore and it prevents big breakouts. For a detailed review, check here.

2. Human Nature Strengthening Shampoo

I used this months ago but just emptied it recently. It is an all-natural shampoo without SLS.  This does not lather like other shampoos but it cleans just the same. I also loved the fresh aloe vera scent it leaves my hair. Most of the time, it makes my hair look damp straight and at times it makes my hair stiff and dry. That is why I use it only twice a week and on days when my hair feels like it is so much chemically-laden.

3. Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator

I did not really finish this up. I dropped it — accidentally. I was in shock when it happened because it was still almost new. The tub is still filled. It works well in preventing oiliness and smoothing out the face. Instead of crying over spilled milk, I moved on already and started again using the new Oil Eliminator HD from Krave.

4. J&J Milk Lotion

This product is actually used up by my little girl. I included it here because I undeniably share this with her. She loves applying lotion on her skin and on my skin as well!

5. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

I swear by this product and have used this ever since my little girl was an infant. I have two of this [one at my parent’s house, one at home]. The one we have at home is the empty one. I also have a little bottle of this in her baby bag. It is gentle, dermatologist tested, and may be used even without water. I also get to borrow this when we are out and I wanted to wash my face. What’s great is that you only have to use a little amount and a 250ml can last you a year or two.

REVIEW: Garnier Light Gentle Exfoliating Scrub / May BDJ Box 7-day challenge

25 May

I was psyched to try another 7day challenge ever since I started doing it with the Avon Skin So Soft Lotion. This time, I tried Garnier Intensive Brightening Scrub from the May BDJ Box. I am actually doubtful if I am still going to post a review about it because I had a striking experience with it. Hubby told me not to review anymore, but I think it isn’t THAT bad so here’s the review.

It comes in a colorful plastic squeeze tube that dispenses the product easily. I just can’t say about the information listed because there’s hardly any and most are not in English.

This is actually the second time I tried a product from Garnier. The first one was the moisturizing cream with spf 17 which is still in the pending review list.

Just a little amount can go a long way. It lathers easily and instantly while you rub your face. The moment you rinse it, you actually see your face a bit brighter than before. It cleanses well and has tiny sugar-sized scrubs that exfoliates well. It also has refreshing scent that can boost your mood.

REVIEW: Clindamycin Phosphate S.O.S.(Save Our Skin)

14 Feb

I was really shocked to see that my S.O.S. roll on is empty. For the record, I think this is the first product that I have finished for less than a month’s time.

How did I come across this product? I was in Mercury Drug last January 20 buying prescription meds for my little girl who was sick. Fortunately, the lady beside me was buying quite a number of medicines that I overheard her asking, “Clindamycin nga. Iyung SOS.” The pharmacist gave one to her. I curiously looked over and read that S.O.S. stands for “Save Our Skin”. I asked, “Effective po ba ‘yan?” She answered, “Okay naman siya. 98php lang ito. Try mo.”

I remembered I had a Topical Clindamycin before when I was seeing my dermatologist. I thought this would almost be the same. So I did get this. Here’s how it looks like:

???????????????????????????????

I immediately took this photo because I wanted to try it out as soon as we got home. I read the information at the back first.

Product Description:

Formulation:
10grams of Clindamycin Phosphate

Indication:
Clindamycin 1% Topical Solution with Vitamin E is a topical antibiotic which contains an antioxidant used in the treatment of acne vulgaris. The combination of antibiotic and Vitamin E’s natural skin repairing substance is an innovation that can prevent, heal pimples/acne as well as acne skin lesions and scarring.

How to use Save Our Skin:
1. Wash the affected area gently with soap and water. You may use warm, moist compress to open the clogged pores.

2. Shake the SOS roll-on and apply topically by gently rolling SOS on the affected area. When applying around the face, avoid the eye area.

3. Use SOS once or twice a day, depending on the severity. To fully enjoy the benefits of SOS, it is recommended to use up to 12 weeks for total healing.
???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

Since my skin is quite reacting too much to stress (and to pillowcases laundered by a laundry shop), I thought I needed to use an antibiotic to heal those pesky pimples. Pimples appear on the side of my face where I slept in. Ugh!

I use this twice a day after I tone my face. I follow the instructions on how to use it, shake the bottle and apply directly. It dries out the acne/pimple without the sting and burn we get from harsh topical acne solutions. Give it a day or two and the pesky zit lessens it size and redness. Unfortunately, I experience a purging stage with this. I used this with a Tretinoin cream, which I’ll be reviewing next. A purging stage is a phase where trapped oil, bacteria and dead skin cells rise to the surface of the skin and breakouts occur. I wasn’t discouraged and I just continued using it.

I actually bought myself a new one already. I think I’ll be loyal to this one and continue buying this until zits stop showing. I am really very happy that I discovered this product. I just wish it wasn’t a roll-on bottle because I think it’s not as hygienic as using a pump bottle or a squeeze tube. Nevertheless, with the price and the effects, it is pretty good to me!

REVIEW: The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil

27 Nov

I always get zits during THE time of the month. PMS mode makes my skin and hormones berserk. But lately, I can see that dang zits are popping anywhere, even in places I didn’t have them before. With holiday stress, hormones, late night sleeps, irregular diet in the picture, I don’t know which to blame. I didn’t even know if this is just a purging stage because I started using a new soap for my face (Oh well, I stopped using it already and I will have another blog for it).  I just have one goal in mind – to get my skin clear…and FAST!

I remembered I ran out of my go-to zit zapper, Adapalene gel, a physician prescribed medication. It is quite expensive so I don’t have it most of the time. I relied on The Body Shop’s Tea Tree oil.

I had this early this year when it was on a 200php off campaign.  I got it at 295php (it was labelled as ‘at the best price ever’). Who can say no to this? Plus the fact that it claims that there is “one sold every 10 seconds”… I gotta have this, in case of emergency.

I literally didn’t know how to open the bottle the first time I used it. The packaging is very hard to use and some of the tea tree oil spills sometimes. I hope the bottle will be upgraded into something more easy to use.

The minty smell is the first thing you’ll get every time you open the product. I just pour a tiny drop into my pointing finger and dab, dab, dab on areas which needed rescue. The tea tree oil has a liquid consistency which runs quickly so I have to be keen in pouring an ample amount. At times, the oil settles on the table or on the floor because it just slips from my finger. Hmm, upon writing this, I am telling myself why haven’t I used cotton buds for easier application? I will, next time.

I use this at night, replacing my Panacea Oil at the moment. I felt a sting when I applied it directly to those nasty pimples. After two or three days of using this noticed that the huge zits flattened a wee bit. It is quite a disappointment as this product claims to “zaps zits in a flash”…it doesn’t, not in a zap.

I stopped using this not because it is not working for me. As I said, I only use this for rescue and in extreme cases where I am desperate for a face clean-up without the derma. It has rescued my skin and that is enough for me. It can be drying if I use it every day to literally clear my face of the nasty, unwanted breakouts. My huge zits are not huge anymore. They have flattened a bit but the hyperpigmentation is still there. I treat the hyperpigmentations with my favourite oil, Human Nature’s Sunflower Beauty Oil.

Overall, this product is fair enough. It doesn’t deliver its claims but is a-okay in my book.

(+) tea tree oil is a non-acidic sub to salicylic acid

(+) flattens zits… in a while.

(+) dries out zits to a certain level

(+) the minty smell relieves my stress, tension and headache

(+) comes in a handy bottle that can fit even  in my pocket

(-) has a liquid consistency (wish it is more on the oil side)

(-) the bottle can still be improved

(-) doesn’t really “zap zits in a flash”

(-) quite expensive for 495php, well it’s from TBS.

Will I repurchase?  Maybe. I think the bottle will last me a long time.
