REVIEW: Clindamycin Phosphate S.O.S.(Save Our Skin)

14 Feb

I was really shocked to see that my S.O.S. roll on is empty. For the record, I think this is the first product that I have finished for less than a month’s time.

How did I come across this product? I was in Mercury Drug last January 20 buying prescription meds for my little girl who was sick. Fortunately, the lady beside me was buying quite a number of medicines that I overheard her asking, “Clindamycin nga. Iyung SOS.” The pharmacist gave one to her. I curiously looked over and read that S.O.S. stands for “Save Our Skin”. I asked, “Effective po ba ‘yan?” She answered, “Okay naman siya. 98php lang ito. Try mo.”

I remembered I had a Topical Clindamycin before when I was seeing my dermatologist. I thought this would almost be the same. So I did get this. Here’s how it looks like:

???????????????????????????????

I immediately took this photo because I wanted to try it out as soon as we got home. I read the information at the back first.

Product Description:

Formulation:
10grams of Clindamycin Phosphate

Indication:
Clindamycin 1% Topical Solution with Vitamin E is a topical antibiotic which contains an antioxidant used in the treatment of acne vulgaris. The combination of antibiotic and Vitamin E’s natural skin repairing substance is an innovation that can prevent, heal pimples/acne as well as acne skin lesions and scarring.

How to use Save Our Skin:
1. Wash the affected area gently with soap and water. You may use warm, moist compress to open the clogged pores.

2. Shake the SOS roll-on and apply topically by gently rolling SOS on the affected area. When applying around the face, avoid the eye area.

3. Use SOS once or twice a day, depending on the severity. To fully enjoy the benefits of SOS, it is recommended to use up to 12 weeks for total healing.
???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

Since my skin is quite reacting too much to stress (and to pillowcases laundered by a laundry shop), I thought I needed to use an antibiotic to heal those pesky pimples. Pimples appear on the side of my face where I slept in. Ugh!

I use this twice a day after I tone my face. I follow the instructions on how to use it, shake the bottle and apply directly. It dries out the acne/pimple without the sting and burn we get from harsh topical acne solutions. Give it a day or two and the pesky zit lessens it size and redness. Unfortunately, I experience a purging stage with this. I used this with a Tretinoin cream, which I’ll be reviewing next. A purging stage is a phase where trapped oil, bacteria and dead skin cells rise to the surface of the skin and breakouts occur. I wasn’t discouraged and I just continued using it.

I actually bought myself a new one already. I think I’ll be loyal to this one and continue buying this until zits stop showing. I am really very happy that I discovered this product. I just wish it wasn’t a roll-on bottle because I think it’s not as hygienic as using a pump bottle or a squeeze tube. Nevertheless, with the price and the effects, it is pretty good to me!

REVIEW: Snoe HyperFunction Foundation + Serum

12 Feb

I got this little baby from the box Snoe Beauty Inc. gave away during the 2012 Bloggers’ Event. It’s one of my most favorite item from the samples!

???????????????????????????????

Product Description:

Snoe Premium Cosmetics HyperFunction Fond de Teint + Serum is a lightweight formula that gives skin perfect coverage, skin healing ingredients, antioxidants and broad-spectrum sun protection. This feel-good formula is extra emollient to instantly “melt” into skin and give it a fresh, healthy glow. Over time, it also helps replenish and strengthen skin.

It’s a multi fuctional serum foundation that will also protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays while creating a flawless finish.

Directions: Apply directly on skin or use a Stippling or Foundation brush. For perfect and matte application set with any Snoe finishing powder.

Infused with:

  • Escargot – repairs damaged skin cells, repair scars, and boost production of collagen and elastin. It has anti-bacterial, anti acne, anti inflammatory properties.
  • Broccoli – rich in vitamin C and K that helps whiten and improve the skin elasticity
  • Acai berry – said to be the fruit that has the most powerful antioxidants in the world!
X0 - Vanilla Creme - Light with Neutral Undertones

The sampler is really convenient for me, especially in toting around my kikay kit. I don’t double dip to keep this tub clean. I just ‘pour’ a dollop onto the back of my palm and use my finger or a foundation brush to apply it on my face.

Luckily, the shade XO – Vanilla Creme (Light with neutral undertones) blended well on my skin.

Who could say no to the benefits it gives? It heals, whitens, protects with SPF20, gives a flawless finish and has antioxidants to boot. I was hooked immediately with this, plus the scent is amazing. It has this light fresh scent to it which I really like.

This has a creamy consistency which can easily be blended. It blends well on my skin (too well that it disappears!) and stays that way. I am so happy because there was no obvious foundation streaks, no redness around the nose and no noticeable pores seen. It looks so seamless and is great for getting the no make-up make-up look! It smoothens, evens out skin tone, and gives a flawless, semi-matte finish.

It does not feel thick and heavy on  face. I think this is more of a tinted moisturizer than a foundation because its lightweight and gives a light to medium coverage. You will still need a concealer to hide the imperfections. Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire is a perfect match for setting this foundation serum.

The full size of this foundation serum sells at 1199php. It may seem too expensive, but if you read the label, a bottle has 55ml of product. Quite a steal since most foundations in the market are only available in 30ml sizes or less.

What I like about it:
– the rare ingredients and their benefits
– it is a product of Snoe!
– has spf 20 (I still use my trusty sunscreen though)
– gives a flawless complexion with light to medium coverage
– smoothens and evens out my skin tone
– no need for primer because it makes pores less noticeable
– a little goes a long way
– doesn’t feel thick, heavy or oily
– doesn’t cake
– has a sweet scent to it
I wish:
– I could buy the full size version soon!
I will definitely get the full size when this tub runs out! I will be keeping this tub so I can just refill and bring this with me.

REVIEW: Human Nature 100% Natural Smoothing Hair Serum

11 Feb
Available hair serums in the market rate zero to me. I tried using it once and I didn’t like the effect it gave. I felt that my hair is weighed down and greasy. I don’t use hair serums at all after that. But when Human Nature released their first 100% Natural Hair Smoothing Serum, I know I have to give it a try.
Product Description:

Silicone is your hair’s worst enemy! It coats the hair like plastic, preventing nutrients from penetrating the strands. Ironically, it’s found in many hair care products, especially hair serums. No one has dared to challenge this norm until now. Our Natural Smoothing Hair Serum is a breakthrough innovation in hair care. Made with a blend of nutrient-rich natural oils, it’s so potent that half a pump is all you need! It’s got sunflowersoybean, and broccoli oilthat nourishes and hydrates the hair, making it truly healthy and beautiful from inside out.

Did you know: Day in and day out, we subject our hair to a lot of stress – from environmental pollution to brushing and styling, your hair can really be vulnerable and prone to dryness. Styling products like silicone-based hair serums can actually make this worse! They give temporary gloss and shine but in the long run, they can damage your hair too.

Ingredients: caprylic/capric triglyceride (coconut derived), dicaprylyl ether (vegetable derived), Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, Glycine soja (soybean) oil, ethyl alcohol (sugarcane derived), Brassica oleracea italica (broccoli) seed oil, fragrance (all natural), glyceryl caprylate (coconut, palm and glycerine derived)

???????????????????????????????
I did not like the packaging because the oil comes out. I purchased a number of this in Human Nature Manila Branch. It was packed safely and I placed it inside my bag. When I got home, there was oil spill everywhere and it was just messy. I wiped the bottles clean and kept it inside a human nature delivery box that I still have. I made sure that the product is stable so there will be no more oil waste. When I was ready to use it again, the bottles are still oily and the box had oil spill too. I am not sure where the oil is coming from though. The pump is a bit flimsy too. I like the old pumps better. I just hope the packaging will be improved. The bottle is a bit ‘soft’ that you can squeeze it, unlike the previous bottles they had for the sunflower beauty oil, hand sanitizer, etc. Other than that, I love, love, love the product so much!
???????????????????????????????
This 50ml bottle does a lot for its price (249php). The serum is made of natural oils that offer a layer of moisture and protection that last throughout the day. Half a pump is all I need to achieve amazingly soft, smooth, frizz free hair all day.
I take half a pump into my palm, rub my hands together and apply the serum only on my hair tips to avoid experiencing oily scalp and comb it through. I use this 2 hours before I shower, after baths when my hair is damp, and before I hit the sack.
Amazingly, the oil just disappears into my hair leaving it smooth, shiny and healthy. I love that it does not weigh down my hair and makes it look flat like other drugstore hair serums do.  Not only does this add major shine to lifeless hair, it conditions hair making it silky soft and smooth. I’ve bid goodbye to frizz, tangles, and split ends with this! It replenishes just the right amount of moisture and makes achieving a salon blow dried hair easy!
The scent of this hair serum is a major plus too. It is so addicting! I love that the fresh, sweet smell lingers on my hair!
I recommend this to everyone (who has curly/straight/thick/thin/dry/frizzy hair) who is looking for a go-to product for giving their mane a healthy lift and salon like feel!
What I love about it:
– Proudly Pinoy made
– Pro-Philippines, Pro-poor, Pro-environment
– moisturizes hair and protects it from further damage
– makes hair soft, smooth, shiny all day
– keeps tangles and frizz at bay
– a little goes a long way
– doesn’t feel oily or greasy
– doesn’t weigh down my hair
– has an addicting sweet scent!!!
– has a fair price of 50ml for 249php
I wish:
– it has SPF.
– it comes in a bigger pump bottle
– the packaging will be improved.
Overall: I am very satisfied with its effect! I highly recommend this!

DIY: How to Make Organic Lip and Cheek Tint

10 Feb

I was thinking on making a different D-I-Y using all organic products. I came up with this lip and cheek tint! Read on to find out how!

STEPS:

1. Prepare the things you will need:
  • empty container (I used the sample container from Krave)
  • Human Nature Lip Balm
  • organic pigments (I chose Krave’s Blush Krush in Pink Muffin)
  • Organic Oils (Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil and Krave’s Panacea Oil)
  • toothpick (for mixing and scooping)
  • tissue (for cleaning/wiping mess)
  • makeup setting spray
  • candle
  • match
  • spoon

???????????????????????????????

2. Fill an empty container with the chosen organic pigments. I used Krave Blush Krush in Pink Muffin sampler from Krave. I did not use any other colors to keep it simple.

3. Scoop out an organic lip balm with a spoon. I chose the Peppermint flavor because it has an almost clear color. You can choose Human Nature Tinted Lip Balms if you want more tint.

???????????????????????????????

4. Light a candle with a match or lighter and put the spoon above the candle approximately 3-4 inches above. You might burn yourself so be very careful. Wait until the lip balm melts.

???????????????????????????????

5. Pour the melted lip balm into the container filled with organic blush pigments. Stir with a toothpick.

???????????????????????????????

6. Optional: Add 2-3 drops of organic oils to add more benefits on the tint. Do not add more than 3 drops because it may look to oily on your cheeks if you do.

2 drops of Panacea Oil

2 drops of Panacea Oil

2 drops of Sunflower Beauty Oil

2 drops of Sunflower Beauty Oil

7. Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you get the amount that you want. You may want to add more pigments or lip balm. Stir, stir, stir while the mixture is hot. It warms and hardens up in a bit so you have to be quick. You can always scoop out the mixture in the pot and heat it if you are not satisfied with how it looks.

8. Once you are satisfied, spray a setting spray and let it cool down and harden for about thirty minutes. You can even put it in the

???????????????????????????????9. Label your new D-I-Y and enjoy using it!

I used this sampler from Krave so my pot already has a label.

Easy peasy right? Let me know if this post has been helpful! Thanks for reading!

REVIEW: SNOE Parallel Pigments CC Cream

10 Feb

Just when we thought BB creams are enough, come CC Creams. What is a CC Cream? It stands for Color Control or Color correcting Cream.  BB cream is primarily a skincare product with SPF to boot. CC cream is an improved version of the BB cream, developed to give the same skincare benefits of the BB cream with more nourishing ingredients to provide better coverage.

Snoe Beauty Inc. is the first to release CC Creams in the Philippines! YAY! You really have to give it to Snoe to keep up with the cosmetic trends. Here are the CC Cream samplers I got from the Snoe Beauty Blogger’s Event I attended last November 2012. You can check it out here.

Snoe Beauty Inc. calls it Parallel Pigments CC Cream.

???????????????????????????????

It comes in 4 shades, namely:

  • Lavander – will brighten sallow skin
  • Wheat – gives a subtle glow to dull skin and will boost radiance.
  • Grass – covers red blemishes and blotchy skin
  • Honey – covers bluish under-eye circles, bruises, facial veins

???????????????????????????????Product Claims:

Snoe Parallel Pigments CC Cream Color Correction Complexion Cream

Banana. Guava. Acai Berry

.42 OZ 12g

Parallel Pigments CC Cream was developed to retain all the skincare benefits of BB cream with added nourishing ingredients and the additional aim to provide more effective color correction.

Contains: Banana- provides antioxidant Vitamin C, vitamin B6 and Manganese for healthy skin. Guava- Vitamin K, C &lycopene to treat skin discoloration, such as dark circles, spider veins, rosacea, acne irritation and overall splotchiness, skin healing and prevention of DNA damage Acai berry- Most powerful and nutritious fruit in the world. Contains the highest level of antioxidants than any other fruit.

???????????????????????????????The sampler tubs are really useful because I can just bring it with me anywhere. It can fit even the smallest kikay kits!

???????????????????????????????

It has a smooth texture and a creamy consistency. It is not thick and heavy like other BB creams I’ve tried. Don’t be deceived by the colors because it really corrects the imperfections. It sort of neutralizes those skin problems that needs to be hidden or corrected.

It is sheer and does not really give enough coverage, but liquid foundation and loose powder can do the trick in achieving more coverage. I only need a pea sized amount for my whole face because a little goes a long way. Most of the time, I use lavander just on my under eye area and it acts like a concealer in brightening my dark circles.

There’s also a big plus that makes me want to smell it. I get giddy whenever I use it because of the yummy scent it has! Thanks to the ingredients like  banana, guava and acai berry. The scent comes off naturally after you apply it, though. I am just not sure of the sun protection factor it gives since it is not indicated so I still apply my trusted sunblock from Belo Essentials.

Defintely going to try out the other two variants from Snoe!

REVIEW: Human Nature Natural Hair Mask

8 Feb

Visits to the salon are a thing of the past ever since I became a mom.  I only go there now to get a haircut. To start with, I have virgin hair and have used no permanent chemical treatments at all. The only treatment I’ve had was hair spa.

The only thing I do to treat my hair is use deep conditioning treatment masks. Hair masks are made to improve your hair condition but most hair masks in the market are very costly. Thankfully, I found Human Nature Natural Hair Mask with Avocado and Gugo Bark! It comes in two sizes, 50g and 200g. It also has two scents/variants: Jasmine, which has the sweet smell of sampaguita, and Rosemary, which has a mentholated smell and feel.

DIY: How to Make Cream Blush

Here I am with another DIY 🙂

Cream blushes stay longer than a powder blush. Unfortunately, I don’t have any cream blushes right now  so I just made one myself.
